Marion Elsie Hodge Klinefelter

GUILDHALL - Marion Elsie Hodge Klinefelter, 88, died at her home March 6, 2013 as was her wish. Born March 29, 1924 in Guildhall, Marion was the daughter of John and Winifred (Daniels) Hodge.

She graduated from Groveton New Hampshire High School and received her RN from Mary Fletcher Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced both bedside and office nursing in a variety of settings as she accompanied her husband, John O. on tours of naval duties on both coasts of the United States and Guam. She was predeceased by her bellowed husband in 2008 after a marriage of 48 years.

Marion enjoyed being an active member of her small community serving on the school board and the committee for renovating the Guild Hall, participated in Guildhall Old Home Days with both floats and programs, member of the Upstreamers and Happy Healthy Hand Helpers 4-H clubs, supported the Benton Library, and was a member of the Willena Benton Chapter #96 EOS and the Guildhall Community Church.

She had a lively spirit and love dancing with her husband, enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, local and family genealogy, and sewing clothing for her extended family especially her grand-nephews, Walter and Edward Polkey, who lived with her during their high school years. She lived her summers in Fredericksburg, VA and winters in Davenport, FL. Her neighbors in VA became cherished lifelong friends. Marion is survived by her ten nieces and ten nephews, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews as well as her cherished Yorkshire terrier Jocko and Johnny's cat Big Rust.

Calling hours will be held Friday evening, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 9 at 11 AM at the Guildhall Community Church. Rev. Gerry Piper will officiate. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at the Guild Hall immediately following the service. Burial will be in the spring in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Benton Library or the Guildhall Community Church, donations for both may be mailed to P.O. Box 94 Guildhall, VT 05905.
