Mary Brown

May 11, 1927 — January 16, 2014

Mary Brown, aged 86 years, died at Country Village in Lancaster, NH on January 16, 2014 following several years of declining health.  Born May 11, 1927, she was the daughter of Ronald and Dorothy Perham.  She had a happy childhood in Groveton, even through the Depression years, making many life-long friends.  Just before her senior year, her family moved to Lisbon, where she lived for nearly 60 years.

During her adult life Mary worked as a bookkeeper in Lisbon's PSNH office.  She raised her daughter, Andrea, taught Sunday School, helped with Girl Scouts, sewed, knitted, and developed her many talents of piano playing, writing, drawing, and painting.  She was thrilled by parties, celebrations, and entertaining.

In the early 1960's she met John Brown III, a teacher in Lisbon, and they were married in 1964.  During their 48 years together, they golfed, fished, listened to music, went to movies, cooked wonderful meals, participated in productions of the Upstage Players, and spent as much time as they could at their Maine camp, which became a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and a growing family.

As they aged, the Browns moved to Lancaster to be closer to Andrea and her husband David, who wanted to participate in their care. As Mary and John required more assistance, they moved to Holton Point in Lancaster.

Mary is predeceased by her husband John, her parents, her brother Richard, her sisters Beverly and Marcia, and many cousins.  Mary is survived by her daughter Andrea Craxton and husband David, her grandson Ronald Josselyn, her granddaughters-in-law Ivana Josselyn and Crissy McAllister, and her great grandchildren, Adam and Kaitlyn Josselyn; Mary's sister-in law Arlene Accavallo and husband Don from Rutland, VT, their granddaughter Brittney, and several of John's cousins. Other survivors include her brother David Perham and his wife Sue from West Palm Beach, FL; three nephews: Victor Snell and his wife Patricia from Bingham, ME and his stepchildren, Jeff Perham and his wife Heidi and their two sons from Alexandria, VA,  Charlie Perham and his wife Crissy and their two sons from Las Vegas, NV;  and one niece, Marta Clark from Lisbon, NH and her two children, Christopher and Elizabeth.

A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church in Lancaster, NH on Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m.  Fellowship following the service will include a joyful display of Mary's art and handiwork.
