LANCASTER - Mary Emma Kenison, 66, of Third Street, died Tuesday afternoon September 18, 2012 at home in her daughters arms after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Kenison was born in Lancaster on June 5, 1946 the daughter of Charles and Faye (Emerson) Hodge.
Mary was a devoted homemaker whose life was dedicated to her family. When her children participated in basketball, wrestling and auto racing she was their #1 fan. She and her late husband Donald G. Kenison Sr. were also former scoutmasters and hosted foreign student exchanges. She will be remembered as a mother to everyone. For a eight years she worked as a CNA at McKerley's Nursing Home.
Family members include her six children Donald G. Kenison Jr. and wife Clarissa of Groveton, Russell E. Kenison Sr. and wife Stephanie of Groveton, Toby A. Kenison and wife Mary Beth of Groveton, Gina L. Bedell and husband Terry of Groveton, Jamie D. Kenison Sr.and wife Dian of Lancaster, Angela M. Arnesen and husband Brad of Jefferson; three sisters Cathy Bishop of Lancaster, Sally Morris of Orleans, VT, Dottie Hodgdon Guildhall; a brother Stephen Hodge Sr. of Groveton; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Donald Sr. predeceased her on October 21, 1997. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Charlene Ruth and Virginia F. Wallace.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, September 21, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Rev. Michael Kooy, pastor of the Faith Presbyterian Church, Lancaster will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
