LANCASTER, NH - Mary "Pat" Patricia Elwell, 76 of McGary Hill, passed away early Thursday February 21, 2019 at Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, after a decades long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born February 1, 1943 in Tuscaloosa, AL, she was the daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth (Curl) Weschler. After high school she attended training at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL, where she would receive her certification as a Register Nurse. On November 28, 1964 she married Robert M. Elwell in Miami, FL.
Pat spent most of her career as a delivery room nurse, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in North Hampton, MA, Bon Secours Hospital in Methuen, MA and Hale Hospital in Haverhill, MA. She liked the work and loved the babies. In 2002 she and Bob moved to Lancaster where they have resided since. She loved making crafts, but her passion was growing gladiolas, which were awarded numerous blue ribbons at the Lancaster Fair.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert Elwell, a son, Andrew M. Elwell and his wife Bonnie of Jacksonville, FL, and two daughter, Cynthia Elwell of India and Karen Cherico and her husband Christopher of Jacksonville, FL,along with five grandchildren Benjamin McLary, Mason Elwell, Megan Elwell, Jack Bickerstaf and Lida Bickerstaf, also surviving is her brother Thomas Weschler of Naples, FL, and a sister Nancy Lake of Collierville, TN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11AM March 9, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church in Lancaster. Friends and family may call the evening prior at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
