JEFFERSON - Michael R. Babcock, 68, of Turnpike Road, died Wednesday morning, February 1, 2022, at the Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Babcock was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on July 2, 1953, the son of William and Ruth (Concannon) Babcock. Michael was raised in Melrose and was a 1972 graduate of Melrose High School. During his youth he spent his summers on Sebago Lake, Maine, a place that stayed close to his heart. All through his life he was an avid hockey lover. In childhood he spent his days on the ice playing hockey, and in his adult life spent his time watching it. In recent years one of his favorite memories was attending a Boston Bruins game with his daughter Ruthie.
For a time, he resided on a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands on the island of Tortola. For the past 30 years he has resided in the Jefferson and Whitefield area working for various businesses including Asplundh Tree Company and more recently the Waumbek Golf Course. Michael loved to golf, watch Judge Judy and converse with friends and family. He enjoyed making people laugh, and always left an impression on those he came across.
Surviving family members include his daughter Ruth Babcock of Jefferson; a sister Carol Linehan of Hampstead, NH; a brother Kevin Babcock of Hooksett, NH, and an abundance of beautiful nieces and nephews, blood related, and the ones he picked up along the way. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother William "Billy" Babcock.
