JEFFERSON - Michael D. Challinor, 49, of North Road, died Friday May 19, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with scleroderma.
Mr. Challinor was born in Putnam, Connecticut, on June 27, 1956, the son of Donald Challinor and Gloria (Tetrault) MacKenzie.
Michael was a resident of Connecticut until moving to New Hampshire in 1986. He has worked most of his lifetime as a carpenter and has been employed with Lemieux Construction, Jefferson, and Brooks Builders, Lancaster. In 1993 he was diagnosed with scleroderma and forced to retire due to ill health. During his life he enjoyed working with kids and has coached many local teams in various sports and volunteered his time as a Cub Scout Scoutmaster.
Family members include his wife Sandra L. (Kingman) Challinor of Jefferson; four children, Melissa R. Peters and husband Ben of Landaff, Timothy Michael Challinor and wife Tiffany of Jefferson, Matthew R. Challinor and wife Ebony of McChord AFB, Washington, Heather Holly Challinor of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Travis, Aviara, Carissa, Eamon; a step-father, James MacKenzie Sr. of Connecticut; five brothers, David MacKenzie of NH, Robert Challinor of OH, Dennis Challinor, James MacKenzie Jr., and William MacKenzie, all of CT; three sisters, Brenda Aiken, Kathleen Fague, and Pam Sargent all of CT; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Richard Challinor.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening May 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster. Further services will be held at the convenience of the family.
