GUILDHALL - Naomi M. Hodgdon, 83, died Thursday afternoon, July 28, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Hodgdon was born on June 11, 1928, the daughter of Henry Hurlbutt and Myrle Deering.
She was a graduate of Boston University where she acquired a teaching degree in physical education. For many years she taught at several schools throughout the Northeast Kingdom. She was also co-owner and operator of several businesses with her late husband Murray Hodgdon. These included Hodgdon's Store and service station, along with a logging business and rubbish removal business.
Naomi was also a former member of the Guildhall School Board and was a Notary Public. She enjoyed watching sports and cowboy movies and loved her cat Emma.
Surviving family members include a son Vaughn Hodgdon and his wife Dorothy of Guildhall; three grandchildren Stephen Hodgdon and his wife Lisa of Danville, VT, Jennifer Poulton and her husband Kevin of Littleton and John Hodgdon and his wife Nicole of Granby, VT; and 6 great grandchildren, Zoe, Makenna, K-Leigh, Kasen, Windsor and Tyson. Murray predeceased her on October 20, 2009.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will follow Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.
