Nate Carmen loved life!

He and his wife of 45 years, Mary-Ellen Morris-Carmen, have deep roots in our beautiful north country and know full well how fortunate they are to live here for the past 36 years.

As a young man, Nate enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving a tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, where he was commissioned as an officer. He highly valued his 23 years of service and retired with the rank of Captain.

Following his military career, Nate was employed for 21 years with Hitchiner Manufacturing in their Milford and Littleton plants as the Human Resources Manager.
He was well known in the areas he lived for his contributions in community politics and charities.

When Nate retired he remembered how as a young child one of his proudest achievements was winning a bicycle for having the most subscriptions as a delivery boy for the Saturday Evening Post. This memory turned into his passion. He and Mary-Ellen biked and hiked and walked all over this country and the world with likeminded dear friends. Nate was diagnosed with dementia in 2003. He lived with and died with his dementia, all the while living a rich, full active life.

Nate is survived by his wife Mary-Ellen, his children Keith, Nate Jr., Marie, Becki, Kelly, Billie and Sue, as well as his stepchildren Tony and Elena and many loving grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father and mother, William and Edna Carmen, and by his children Brian, Bobbie and Jessica.

Nate will be most remembered for his wonderful story telling, his quick wit, his kind heart and his ever-present mischievous smile.

Nate’s family will be celebrating his life by giving him his 93rd birthday party on October 21, 2023 at the VFW in Littleton, NH from noon until 2 pm. We would love to have as many of his friends and extended family join us for an ice cream social to honor his lifelong obsession with his “favorite health food”.
