LUNENBURG- Noel J. "Duke" Benoit Jr., 77, died Monday August 20, 2007 at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab, after a long battle with Mesothelioma for several months.
Mr. Benoit was born in North Stratford, NH on May 11, 1930, the eldest son of Noel J. Benoit Sr. and Rosa E. (Beauchemin) Benoit, who both predeceased him.
Duke was a long time resident of Victory, VT, moving back to Lunenburg to his childhood home in 1999. Known throughout the area as "Duke the plumber", he enjoyed his years of retirement.
He is survived by, his son Noel J. Benoit III of Las Vegas, Nevada; four daughters, Cindy P. Brown of Lunenburg, JoAnne H. Gilman of Lyndonville, Sally J. Young of East Concord, VT and Bonnie A. Jones of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Brian, Aaron, Angel, Kelly, and Shawn; 4 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Edwin Benoit and Reginald Benoit both of Lunenburg, Alphonse Benoit of San Antonio, TX, and Lawrence Benoit of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two sisters Yvonne Boucher and Pearl Willey both of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene, John, and Theodore Benoit all of Lunenburg.
At Duke's request there are no calling hours or funeral services. His family and friends will miss him and his unique perspective on life. He was a true Vahmontah !!
