LANCASTER - Norma E. Roberts, 81, of Elm Street, died Saturday morning July 12, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Stratford, NH on May 14, 1933 the daughter of Ezra and Lena (Melville) Robie. She was raised in North Stratford and was a 1951 graduate of Stratford High School. One of her favorite memories was winning the State Basketball Championship.
For a time she lived in Maine and worked as a secretary for Travelers Insurance Company in Portland. Norma was longtime resident of Lancaster and was the wife of her late husband John D. Roberts Jr. She was an active member of the community and was involved with many local volunteer organizations. Memberships included the Fluffies and The Birthday Girls. She was an active follower of Facebook and loved keeping up with family and friends. She enjoyed surrounding herself with laughter, good times, and positive thoughts.
Surviving family members include her children George David Roberts of Lancaster, J.D. Roberts of Lancaster, Pamela Roberts of Lancaster, Lynn Emery and husband Roger of Maidstone, VT, Cindy Normandeau and husband Dennis of Lancaster, Heather Bailey and husband Kolin of Lancaster; a sister Elsie Bradway of Hampden, MA; her cherished 11 grandchildren, Brian Roberts, Katie Gray, Stacie Roberts, Becky Roberts, Sammi Jo Roberts, Nicholas Emery, Mitchell Emery, Breanna Birt, Tucker Campbell, Kylee Bailey, Kaden Bailey; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by two brothers Chesley "Chet" Robie, Gordon "Dutch" Robie and three sisters, Zona Mae Robie, Beulah Chapman, and Priscilla Moore.
Norma loved her family, friends, and community. She was known and adored by many as "Nana Norma".
Memorial visiting hours will be held Monday evening July 14, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. Reverend Sharon van der Laan, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
