WHITEFIELD, NH- Norman B. Lawrence Sr., 77, died Friday March 31, 2006, in Danville, NH.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Lowell, MA, on November 4, 1928, the son of Harold and Edna (Mitchell) Lawrence.
In his youth he lived in Methuen, MA and finished his formal schooling at the Edward Searles High School. In the late 30's his family moved to Pelham, NH. He later took insurance company courses, and then he worked in the insurance field for various companies. Norman then became self-employed doing insurance and bank inspections of property. He also served three terms in the NH State Legislature (1975,1989, and 1991). During his last term he served with his wife, Eva Mae (Melanson) Lawrence. In 1992, he and Eva moved to Whitefield to retire. Eva and Norman were married a total of 55 years and had 10 children.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Norman B. Lawrence Jr., and Dr. Mark Lawrence; seven daughters, Alice Clancy, Helen Bethel, Eva Axne, Evelyn West, Ruth Lawrence, Mary Sullivan, and Marion Current; a brother, Alan Lawrence, a sister, Ruth Miller; 20 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by, his son Walter Robert Lawrence in 1970.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday April 2, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Reverend Lou Going will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday April 4, at 11 AM in the Gibson Cemetery, Pelham.
