LANCASTER - After her final battle with cancer, Otilla J. "Toni" Pierce, 60, of Main Street, died peacefully at her home shortly after midnight on January 29, 2022, with her family at her side.
Toni was born in Lancaster on December 2, 1961, the daughter of James L. and Patricia (Monahan) Pierce. She was a longtime resident of the North Country and 1979 graduate of White Mountain Regional High School. She also attended Burdett College in Boston.
For many years Toni has worked in the title industry. For a time, she was employed with Omega Title & Closing in Lancaster and in 2009 established her own company Esco Title, Lancaster. She has also worked as a recreation director at Colonel Town, Lancaster and in New Boston.
She was an active in her community including memberships in the American Legion Auxiliary, Groveton, and the Lancaster Lions. Since 2009 she has been the treasurer of the Northway Chamber of Commerce. She often volunteered her time for community activities and was also a two-time recipient of the Affiliate of the Year Award from the Board of Realtors.
Toni loved to travel and has been on many cruises throughout the world. In 2016 she purchased a camp on Nay Pond in Milan and it became the love of her life. She spent every spare moment she had there.
Surviving family members include her husband Troy Merner of Lancaster; her children Alexandria Karl-Hand and husband Jeremy of Lancaster, Kellie Brigandi and husband Jacob of Connecticut, Lincoln Karl of Lancaster; brothers, Reginald J. Pierce and wife JoAnn of Forston, GA, Trent E. Pierce and wife Lingdi of East Haven, CT, George Cochran of New York City; and a sister Tina A. DeMasi and husband Patrick of Northfield, VT. Toni was predeceased by her parents, a brother Leslie J. Pierce, and a sister Sarah Pierce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, February 5th, at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Schultz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in Calvary Cemetery.
