Pamela Cote Mcintire

November 9, 1945 — April 17, 2020

JEFFERSON - Pamela Cote McIntire, 74, passed away at her home Friday morning, April 17, 2020, after a period of failing health.

Mrs. McIntire was born in Concord, NH, on November 9, 1945, the daughter of Ludger G. and Phyllis R. (Auger) Cote. During her school years her family moved a lot between Florida and New Hampshire. She graduated from Clearwater High School in 1964.

In the summers of 1962 and 1963 she worked in Connecticut at a tobacco camp where she sewed tobacco leaves into bunches to be hung in sheds for drying. In the summer of 1964 she started as a waitress at the Waumbek Hotel in Jefferson where she met the love of her life, Lucius McIntire. She followed him to the Hillsboro Club in Pompano Beach, Florida that fall and they were married in January of 1965, a marriage that lasted 55 years. She was employed for two winters at the Hillsboro Club and returned to Jefferson in 1966 to raise her family of two daughters. She later became head of the housekeeping department at the Waumbek Hotel again in the early 1970's. She was later employed as a dental receptionist at Perreault & Naves dental office in Lancaster for several years and then finished her working career at the Jefferson School as an administrative assistant. She retired in June 2009 and then spent seven winters in Florida with Lucius.

Pam enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her five grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She attended many of their sporting events, school functions and dance recitals through the years. She was very proud of all their accomplishments and rarely missed any of their events from grade school through college. She looked forward to family vacations to Ogunquit Beach, Maine for many summers.

She enjoyed cross-stitch projects which included creating beautiful squares to make quilts for her daughters. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothing and Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren, costumes for plays at school, and hemming prom dresses throughout the years. One of her last projects was knitting several hats, mittens and scarves that she gave to family and donated in the area. She enjoyed reading many books and doing puzzles.

In May of 2003 she was honored by the Starr King Grange in Jefferson with a Community Service Award. In addition to this award, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the American Legion for all her numerous contributions to the Jefferson School and the community.
Pam was not a person to sit idle for long. She was always finding ways to volunteer her time in the school community and Jefferson community. During her daughters' school years she was very involved with the PTA, hunter's supper, penny sales and school programs.

Surviving family members include her husband Lucius of Jefferson; her two daughters and their families, Heather McIntire and son Keir Raven of Lancaster, Lisa McIntire Colby, husband Brennan and their children Cathan and Niah of Lunenburg, VT, Capri and fiancé Collin of Dover, DE and Taryn and companion Ian of Newport, VT; three brothers Malcolm Cote, Donald James Auger and Timothy Auger all of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Norman Cote and two sisters Marjorie Nagy and Grace Prather.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a youth program of one's choice.
