GROVETON - Pearl Priscilla Demers Gilcris, 87, of Thompson road, passed away with her family by her side on January 4, 2012, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Lewiston, ME, on September 30, 1924, the daughter of Alfred and Louisa (Lemieux) Demers. Growing up in Dummer she later moved to Groveton at the age of 16 to work and has lived there the rest of her life.
Pearl's early employment was housekeeping before working at the Plywood Mill in Stratford for 9 years. From there she took employment at the Groveton Paper Mill until retiring there in 1986. Not one to sit still for too long Pearl decided to work at PAK 2000 until that department closed.
She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, reading, crocheting, making puzzles, play solitaire on the computer, gardening and spending time with her family.
Family members include two daughters and their families:
Dorothy (Gilcris) Powell, her spouse Walter and children, Cindy, William, Melody, Kelly, Vern, Todd and Dorothy, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
June (Gilcris) Goulet, her spouse Wayne and their children DeWayne, Tammy, her spouse Mac, Dawn, her spouse Randy, Darcie "Dee", Angela Andrew and significant other Jen, Samantha and her spouse Chad Hurley.
Four sons and their families:
Roger (deceased) and spouse Sylvia and children, Robin, her spouse Alan Iserman, Ann Marie, her spouse Kevin Malloy, their children and son Christopher.
Ronal and spouse Rosie, and children, Robert, Timothy, Raina, her spouse Brian Gadwah, Tricia, her spouse Robert McCormick, and Ronal "Pete" and significant other Tania Gilcris and their children.

Tracy and spouse Betty and children Tracey and Hilary.
Sisters, Gladys Matheson, Dorothy Gildea, Lorraine Demers and special sister-in-law Leona Demers; and brothers, Abian and David Demers.
Pearl is best known as "Mim" and lived with her daughter June. She was very close to the immediate family that lived with and around her. These include great-grandchildren, Lauralyn and spouse Jeremy cross, Toby Kenison, Sabrina, Jessica, and Randee Dawn Pelletier, Robert McLain, Toria Clark, Andrew Jr., Alyssa and Andrew Goulet, Kaitly Adam, Kayleigh Higgins, Adrianna Veliz, Nathaniel and Zachary Goulet. Her great-great-grandchildren Hailleigh Pelletier and many special friends and relatives to numerous to mention were also very important to her.
She is predeceased by her parents, 8 siblings and her son Roger passed away in 2010.
Calling hours will be held Friday afternoon, January 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will follow immediately after at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in Emerson Cemetery, Stark.
