NORTHUMBERLAND – Heaven gained another angel when Pearl I. Styles, 90, of Marietta Lane, passed at her home in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 17, 2023. Her loving daughter and longtime caregiver Tamie was by her side.
She was born in Guildhall, VT, on July 8, 1933, the daughter of Felix and Florence (Parrish) Breault. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Guildhall and later graduated from Groveton High School.
Pearl was widowed at an early age when her husband Tom died unexpectedly at the age of 49. She picked up the rigors and hardships of running their business Mike’s Pub & Sub Shop, where everyone was treated as family.
Pearl had a passion for sports. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and was a dedicated fan of the Celtics, Patriots, and the Red Sox. She enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders, knitting, crocheting, baking, tending to her flower garden, and being outdoors.
She was a devout Christian and for a time was an active member of the Haverhill Congregational Church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5245 in North Haverhill, Order of the Eastern Star, Guildhall, and the Groveton Alumni Association.
To the many caregivers, she loved you, and the family thanks you for the gentle care you provided her.
She is survived by her children, Thomas M. Styles of Berlin, James E. Styles, Mark W. Styles (Nancy), and Tamie J. Styles (Steve Collins) all of Northumberland; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Lester Breault; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening, September 29th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, September 30th, at 11:00AM at the Guildhall Community Church. Reverend Ron Sherwin will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service at the Guild Hall in Guildhall. At a later date she will be laid to rest with her husband Tom in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Riverside Animal Rescue, 236 Riverside Ave., Gilman, VT 05906.
