Priscilla J. Mayberry

March 18, 1912 — December 3, 2007

LANCASTER, NH- Priscilla J. Mayberry, 95, formerly of Lost Nation Road, Groveton, died Monday afternoon, December 3, 2007, at Country Village Genesis Elder Care.

Mrs. Mayberry was born in South Paris, Maine on March 18, 1912, a daughter of E. Burton and Mae (Aremberg) Curtis.

Priscilla was a graduate of Gould Academy, Bethel, Maine, and attended Long Island Hospital School of Nursing. Most of her life she was a private duty nurse but also worked for a time at Kent Nursing Home and Weeks Memorial Hospital. At one time she was a private duty nurse for Mrs. Jane (Sinclair) Weeks.

For many years she also resided at the Mayberry Potato Farm on Groveton Road.

She enjoyed going to camps at West Pond and at Maidstone Lake, she also enjoyed the outdoors, crossword puzzles and reading.

She was a member of the Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir. She was also a member and former employee of the Farm Bureau and member of the Grange.

Family members include two daughters, Marlene Hartlen of Florida, Robin Dorr of Naperville, Illinois; a brother Robert Curtis of Gorham, Maine; two sisters, Ruth Doyle of Franconia, Nancy Anderson of Lynn, MA; eleven grandchildren including James E. Carr and wife Kristin and Patrick Carr and wife Caroline all of Lunenburg, VT; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert V. Mayberry; a son Peter J. Carr; a stepson Richard Mayberry; and two grandsons, Christopher P. Carr and David Hartlen.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 6, from 4-6 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Reverend Dean Stiles, pastor at First Baptist Church, Berlin will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.
