Ralph Winslow Kingsley

March 30, 1925 — March 13, 2018

LANCASTER - Ralph Winslow Kingsley, 92, passed away Tuesday evening, March 13, 2018, at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Kingsley was born in Lancaster on March 30, 1925, the son of John A. and Priscilla (Kendrick) Kingsley. Ralph was a lifetime resident of Lancaster graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1943. He worked for a time at Bailey Brothers grocery store then went on to serve in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. Returning home he married Barbara J. Pelkey on August 14, 1946.

He resumed working for Ed Dumont and others as a carpenter and helped build several homes in Lancaster. He then took a job with John Roberts Sr. on Bunker Hill Street and started his lifelong profession as an auto body repairman. He had a long career with Roberts Motor Sales also working for John's successors, John Jr. and Butch Roberts. At age 65 he retired for a brief time but discovered he wasn't ready to quit working. He returned to auto body work at Belanger's Motors, Lancaster for 2 years and then 10 years for North Country Ford Auto Body in Lancaster.

Ralph was an active member of the community. He was a Communicant of All Saints Church and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also member of the former Lancaster Jaycees. Ralph had a lifelong love of baseball and was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. He played on the Lancaster Academy baseball team in high school and was a bat boy for semi-pro team the Lancaster Pilots.

Surviving family members include three children, Brian J. Kingsley of Lancaster, Anne M. Powell and husband Bill of Ocala, FL, Mary Beth Begin of Lyndonville; 8 grandchildren, Karl P. Martin, Paul A. Martin, Kristy L. Begin, Jennifer B. Begin, Brent J. Kingsley, Tristan S. Kingsley, Kirsten G. Kingsley and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by Barbara; a brother John Kingsley Jr; a sister Christine Douglas; and a grandson Michael T. Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 19th, at 12:00 PM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
