DALTON - Ralph G. Ridley, 86, of Ridgeview Terrace, died at his home Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016.
Mr. Ridley was born in Springvale, Maine on August 15, 1929, the son of Allen W. and Mildred (Ham) Ridley. He attended schools in Sanford, Maine and was a graduate of Sanford High School. He served with the US Army in WWII during the occupation of Germany.
Most of his life he worked as a forester and was employed for a time with the US Forest Service and later True Temper Corp. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and "puttering" in the woods.
Surviving family members include his wife Emily J. (Thompson) Ridley of Dalton; four children, Ralph Garey Ridley Jr. and his wife Donna of Littleton, NH, Thomas Porter Ridley and significant other Linda Emery of Lisbon, NH, Mark Allen Ridley and wife Bethany of Lancaster, NH, Bethany Ann Ridley and fiance Kenny Ling of St. Johnsbury, VT; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Glen Ridley of Springvale, ME; a sister Joyce Sawyer of Blandon, PA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Roberta Blanchette, Jean Roark, and Francis Baertschi.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening April 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Reverend Lou Going, pastor of the Whitefield Christian Church, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
