Raymond N. Crane

April 24, 1906 — April 25, 2007

LANCASTER, NH - Raymond N. Crane, 101, of Garland Road, died Wednesday

morning April 25, 2007 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, NH.

Mr. Crane was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on April 24, 1906, the son of Charles

and Sophia (Paterson) Crane. Raised in Elizabeth, Raymond attended schools

there and went on to become a licensed electrician.

For a time he owned an operated Mayfair Music in Bradley Beach, NJ, and

later worked as an inspector for Bendix Corp in Eatontown, NJ. For many

years he was a court officer for the Monmouth County Sheriffs office. He

took mandatory retirement there at the age of 70.

Active in community emergency services, Raymond was a life member of the

Ocean Grove First Aid Squad and Eagle Hook and Ladder Fire Company and also

served as past president, treasurer, and secretary of this company. He was

also a member of the Ocean Grove Fire Police in New Jersey.

Raymond was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Ocean Lodge #89 in Spring

Lake, NJ. He was raised as a Master Mason in 1948. He was also an honorary

member of the North Star Masonic Lodge #8 in Lancaster, NH.

He served in the New Jersey National Guard and was a member of the

S.P.E.B.S.O.S.A., Chorus of the Atlantic Barbershop Chorus. Raymond has

resided in Lancaster since 1989 and was presently the holder of the Boston

Post Cane.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Virginia Crane of

Lancaster; four grandchildren, Sharon Langenes, Christine Crane, Richard

Crane, Eric Crane; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his

wife Ruth E. (Johnson) Crane; three brothers and one sister.

Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening April 27, from 6:00 to

8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Masonic service will be

held during visiting hours at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date

in Monmouth Memorial Park, Neptune, NJ.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the Ocean Grove

First Aid Squad, 50 Olin Street, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 or the Eagle Hook and Ladder

Company, 128 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 or to a charity of ones choice.
