COLUMBIA - Raymond P. Hamel, 74, died Tuesday evening December 9, 2008, at Country Village Genesis Health Care Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Hamel was born in West Stewartstown on February 18, 1934, the son of Eugene N. and Lizzie M. (Sweatt) Hamel.
Raymond was a graduate of Colebrook Academy. For several years he worked for the Brown Company in Stratford and later owned and operated the Wilderness Restaurant and Cedar Lounge in Colebrook. He enjoyed carpentry and did all his own repairs and improvements and built his home in Columbia.
Family members include five children, Raymond C. Hamel, Deborah A. Hamel, and Gina S. Hibbard all of Colebrook, Renae E. Buck of South Carolina, Derek Hamel of Florida; nine grandchildren; three brothers Arthur Hamel of Hooksett, Philip Hamel of Hampton, Eugene Hamel of Columbia; two sisters Phyllis Rebucccio of Lunenburg, Mass, and Amey Adams of Ventura, CA. He was predeceased by his wife Selena (Roby) Hamel and a brother Wayne Hamel.
There are no visiting hours. Burial will be in the spring in Columbia.
