Rebecca J. Mcvetty

DALTON - Rebecca J. McVetty, 66, of Union Road, died at her home Tuesday afternoon October 13, 2015.

Becky was born in Lancaster on June 21, 1949 the daughter of George I. McVetty Jr. and Beverly M. (Smith) McVetty Stewart.  She was a graduate of Whitefield High School and from 1968 to 2013 she worked as a bookkeeper for Pilgrim Furniture in Littleton.  For a time she was also a bookkeeper for Littleton Harley Davidson and for three years was a selectman's assistant for the Town of Dalton.

Some of her interests included genealogy and studying town and local history.  She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening.  She was an active member of the community, volunteering her time and talents for the town and church.

Since 1975 she has been a charter member of the Dalton Historical Society.

Surviving family members include her mother Beverly McVetty Stewart of Dalton; a brother Thomas L. McVetty and his wife Nancy of Dalton; a sister Terri L. Parks and her husband Brian of Dalton; a step-brother W. Thomas Stewart of Mansfield, MA; a step-sister Lucie M. Brown of Salem, NH; 3 nephews, 1 niece, 3 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.  She was predeceased by her father George; her step-father Floyd E. Stewart and a step-brother Gerald Stewart.

A graveside service will be held Saturday morning October 31, at 11:00 AM in Cushman Cemetery in Dalton.  Reverend Diane Raymond, pastor of the Dalton Congregational Church, will officiate.
