DALTON - Reginald Blakslee Stevens, 96, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center in Lancaster.
Mr. Stevens was born in Dalton on March 1, 1914, the son of Roscoe Gardner and Bessie (Blakslee) Stevens.
Reginald was a former paper mill worker and one time road agent for the Town of Dalton. He also served as a Dalton selectman. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, visiting with friends, playing cards, singing and country music. During WWII he served with the US Army as a medical technician in all the major campaigns of the European Theater.
He was a 70-year member of the North Star Lodge #8 Free and Accepted Masons. Other memberships included the Scottish Right, the American Legion Post #41, Whitefield, and the Northeast Kingdom Senior Citizen Club in Gilman.
Family members include a sister Dorothy Stevens St. Cyr of Dalton; two step-daughters, Jeanette and Harriet; three nephews, Ronnie Stevens and wife Sara, Victor St. Cyr and wife Tammy, Richard St. Cyr and wife Julie; a niece, Paula Stevens and husband Bob; three grand-nephews, Shawn St. Cyr and wife Brynn, Corey St. Cyr and wife Haley, Brian Stevens and wife Bryanna; and a great-niece Misty Stevens. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys (Noyes) Stevens; brothers Richard Stevens, Roscoe "Junior" Stevens, Paul Stevens; one sister Pauline Stevens; and a step-son Buster Noyes.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, January 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Masonic service will be held at during visiting hours at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM at the Dalton Congregational Church. Rev. Dennis Bowman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
