LUNENBURG, VT- Rene "Pere" Mainguy, 86, of Tobyne Road, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Mainguy was born in Berlin on November 27, 1920, a son of John and Eugenie (Dechamplain) Mainguy.
Pere was raised in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School. He went on to serve with the US Army during WWII, after marring Rita Chabot they moved to Connecticut and lived there for many years. During that time he worked as a meat cutter for COPACO in Bloomfield, CT. When he retired they resided for a time in Florida. After Rita passed he then split his residency between Colorado and Vermont living with his daughters. Vermont has been his home for the past four years.
He was a member of the Elks in Florida and Colorado.
Family members include a son Peter Mainguy of Florida, two daughters Denise Clark of Colorado and Lisa Engel of Lunenburg, VT, a brother Robert Mainguy and a sister Annette Denis both of Berlin, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date, at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd.
