Richard Lionel Fontaine

LANCASTER - Richard Lionel Fontaine, 65, of Pleasant Valley Road, died Tuesday May 19, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Mr. Fontaine was born in Lancaster on December 8, 1949 the son of Leonard F. and Eunice M. (Holt) Fontaine.  He was a lifelong resident of Lancaster graduating from Lancaster High School in 1967.  After high school he started working at the Groveton Paper Mill but left in 1968 to serve in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  He returned to the mill in 1972 and after many dedicated years he retired as Foreman of Instrumentation for Wausau Paper Company.  He also operated his own business repairing air conditioners and refrigeration units.

Dick loved hunting and enjoyed his camp in Lost Nation.  He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar.  He was a member of the Lancaster VFW Post #3041, Royal Order of the Cooties and the Rochester Victory Club.

Surviving Family members include his wife of 42 years Beatrice (Savage) Fontaine of Lancaster; his mother Eunice Fontaine of Lancaster; two sons Jody Fontaine of Lisbon, Brian Fontaine and fiancée Amanda Locke of Farmington; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Bryton, Brice, Teran, Denika, Kylie, Ethan; six brothers and sisters, Joanne Emerson and husband Leslie of Lancaster, Mary Anne Baird and husband Steve of Beckly, WV, Rosanna Currier and husband John of Lancaster, Nannette Stone and husband Charles of Alaska, Dennis "Ben" Fontaine of Jefferson, Bonnie Bryant and husband Delbert of Milan, Roger Lucien "Trapper" Fontaine and wife Brenda of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening May 27

th

, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster.  Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate.  Military honors will follow outside the church.
