LANCASTER - Richard C. Gainer, 68, of Portland Street, died suddenly at his home Monday, May 21, 2012.
Mr. Gainer was born in Lancaster on January 21, 1944, the son of Linwood James and Emily (Rich) Gainer.
Dickie was a lifetime resident of Lancaster and a 1962 graduate of Lancaster Academy. For 35 years he was employed at the Groveton Paper Mill. He enjoyed visiting, working outdoors, and history. He had particular knowledge of his own family's history.
Surviving family members include his wife Katherine (Blake) Gainer of Lancaster; a sister Carol Beaudoin and husband Edward of Contoocook, NH; a sister-in-law Virginia Gainer of Lancaster; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carl and Susan Chamberlain of Lancaster; 3 nieces, 6 nephews, 2 great-nieces, 1 great-nephew, several cousins and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert J. Gainer.
At Dickie's request there are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, May 24, at 11:00 AM, at Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. John MacKenzie of All Saints Church, Lancaster, will officiate.
