LANCASTER - Richard A. "Thumper" Webster, 79, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Country Village Genesis Healthcare, Lancaster, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Mr. Webster was born in Lancaster on April 6, 1937 the son of Richard H. and Dora (Braband) Webster. He grew up in Lancaster and attended Lancaster Schools. As a young man he served with the National Guard for several years.
All of his life he worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. His former employers included Washburn Lumber, Welog, Roger Brown and Larry Brown. He enjoyed auto racing, camping, hunting and fishing, especially brook trout. Dick and Kay loved going on ocean cruises. In all they went on seven during their marriage.
Family members include his wife Catherine "Kay" Bronson of Lancaster; five children and their spouses, Sherry Deyette and Faron of Groveton, Cynthia Dunn and Robert of Whitefield, Richard J. Webster and Pamela of Groveton, Caryn Snelling and Richard of Bethlehem, Stephanie Kenison and Rusty of Groveton; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Cady Stockbridge; a great-granddaughter Destiny Dunn; two brothers, Hollis Webster, Herbert Webster and a sister Carol Sherman.
Memorial visiting hours and a time of sharing will be held Saturday, September 24
th
from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.
