Rita A. (Powell) Bell, 89, of Luneburg, Vt., passed away on September 6, 2013, at the Saint Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in Saint Johnsbury, Vt.
Rita was born July 28, 1924. Her parents, John, T. and Sadie (Hagan) Powell, as well as her sister Catherine McLaughlin, and her brothers William and James Powell, all have predeceased her.
She lived most of his life as a resident of Lunenburg, Vt. During World War II she was employed at the Gilman Mill. She married Vincent Bell on December 23, 1945 at Saint Leo's Catholic Church in Lunenburg, where they were both Communicants. They were married 63 years before Vincent passed in 2009.
Rita leaves behind five children and their spouses: Daniel Bell and Mary (Quimby) of Wheelock, Vt., Diane and Bruce Thomas of Lunenburg; Anna and Carl Lavallee of Monkton, Vt.; Mary Lou and Gary Ingalls of Lunenburg; and Amos Bell also of Lunenburg. She has 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed camping, boating, visiting with her family, and for a few years, "snow birding" in Florida with friends.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held September 14th at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lunenburg. The graveside committal service will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster, N.H. After the committal service a luncheon will be offered at the Gate of Heaven Parish Hall in Lancaster, N.H. There will be no calling hours.
