LANCASTER- Rita L. Gray, 73, of Garland Road, died on August 29, 2009, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Gray was born on October 2, 1935, in Dalton, NH a daughter of Alton and Christie (Walters) Lee.
Rita was a longtime resident of Lancaster and a graduate of Lancaster Academy. She was a bookkeeper for the Groveton Paper Company, retiring after 22 years. Family meant the world to Rita; she was very thoughtful always remembering everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. At Christmas time she would always make homemade socks for all family members young and old. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and baking especially treats for her granddaughters.
Family members include her husband Dean C. Gray of Lancaster, a son George Gray of Lunenburg and a daughter Vicki Perkins of St. Johnsbury, VT, two granddaughters, Courtney Skar of Bakersfield, VT and Ashley Gray of Worchester, MA, three sisters Ruth Foss of Lancaster, Patricia Neal of Whitefield and Kathleen Smith of Lancaster and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Clyde Lee, Robert Lee and Reginald Lee and a sister Sandra Gooden, predecease her.
At Rita's request there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon, September 1, at 2:30 PM in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Pastor Ron Bruce of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in her memory to the American Heart Assoc., New Hampshire Affiliate, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
