LANCASTER- Robert A Bishop, 78, of Lost Nation Road, died Wednesday morning, December 26, 2018, at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
Mr. Bishop was born in Lancaster on March 14, 1940, the son of Arno Bishop and Ella (Carter) Bishop. He was a resident of Lancaster, having lived in the same house his entire life long. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Robert enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and working his farm with his beloved John Deere Tractor. He was a traditionalist who believed that hard work and honesty paid off. Robert spent his working years as a concrete truck driver for Persons Concrete and then Coleman Concrete as well as managing his small beef cattle farm. In his retirement he spent his time with his family, hunting and fishing with friends as well as learning how to understand Autism in order to help his "best buddy" (his grandson) Mason become a strong and capable young man and farmer.
Surviving family members include his wife of 32 years, Catherine Hodge Hutchinson Bishop; his son Michael Bishop and wife Della; his daughter Paula Dunn and husband Robert and his daughter Wendy Stuart and fiancé Mark Fahlbeck all of Lancaster; his brother William Bishop and wife Brenda of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren all from the local area.
Robert is predeceased by his first wife Nancy (Hurlbert) Bishop, two daughters Kathy Marie and Kelly Bishop and both his parents.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, December 30th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 31st at 11:00am at the St. Paul's Church, Lancaster. Reverend Timothy Brooks, pastor, will officiate. A gathering will follow at the Jefferson Town Hall.
