Robert F. Crisman

May 31, 1947 — September 1, 2023

LANCASTER – Robert F. Crisman, 76, of McGary Hill Road, died at home peacefully in his sleep, Friday morning. September 1, 2023.

Mr. Crisman was born in White Plains, NY, on May 31, 1947, the son of Robert F. and Marion Crisman.

From 1964 to 1968, Robert served in the US Army. His life’s work was as an educator, he taught adult education at the Rochambeau School in White Plains, NY and worked as a residential counselor at Easter Seals in Lancaster, NH.

Robert was a free spirit in his younger years traveling throughout Mexico and Europe in his VW camper while exploring all that the world had to offer. He later married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Spitzel, and the two enjoyed country living which brought them north from NY to NH in 1987 with their two girls, Nicole and Kate. There they enjoyed a relaxed lifestyle consisting of long days on the lake and caring for their horses, geese, chickens and many other animals on their small farm. Robert’s black lab and best friend, Sam, always by his side.

In 2005 Robert and his wife moved north again where they enjoyed unparalleled views of the White Mountains from their home which he took notice of daily. Robert loved the north country but was always happy to make the long drive south to visit family often and to see all of his five grandsons into the world.

An avid outdoorsman who took great pleasure in political debate, genealogy, history and eclectic music, Robert, will forever be remembered as a patient, devoted husband, father, mentor and friend. He was a rare, charismatic man who lived a natural life. His loss is great and deeply felt by all who knew him.

Family members include his wife Barbara (Spitzel) Crisman of Lancaster; two daughters, Nicole and Keith Ardizzone of Windham, NH, Kate and Aaron Rodrigue of Gilmanton, NH and 5 grandchildren, Ethan and Jack Rodrigue. Ryan, Evan and Luke Ardizzone.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
