JEFFERSON - Robert W. German Jr., 74, died Friday evening, May 29, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mr. German was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 20, 1935, the son of Robert W. German Sr. and Anna (O'Shea) German. Raised in Boonton, NJ, Robert went on to serve with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Rutgers College and the College of Lifelong Learning and he acquired bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry and Behavioral Science. He was the former Safety Manager at both Walson Army Hospital and Luke Air Force Base. After retirement he moved to New Hampshire where he has resided for 19 years. He was a member of VFW Post #10675, Whitefield, Disabled American Veterans, and the National Rifle Association. Family members include his wife Pauline G. (Chandonnais) German of Jefferson; a son Michael German of Las Vegas; a daughter, Susan Hunter of Virginia; a step-son Mark Haftman of Arizona; four step-daughters, Mary Miller of Rindge, Martha Fetko of Twin Mountain, Margaret May of Allenstown, Michele Berry of Stewartstown; three brothers, John German of Florida, James German and William German both of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and two nieces. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening June 4, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10:00 AM at the Littleton Bible Baptist Church, Littleton, NH. Rev. Timothy Cronan, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors is Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
