Robert T. Halvorson

GROVETON - Robert T. Halvorson, 80, formerly of Whitefield, died peacefully at his daughter's home on North Avenue, Thursday morning May 21, 2009. Mr. Halvorson was born in Berlin, NH, on September 14, 1928, the son of Theodore and Anna Marie (Peterson) Halvorson. Robert was raised in Berlin and was a 1946 graduate of Berlin High School. On September 20, 1952, he married Joyce Silts and shortly thereafter was drafted into the US Army for approximately one year of military service. For over 40 years he was employed with Public Service of New Hampshire where he retired as a Division Electrician. He and Joyce also reside for 40 plus years in Whitefield. He enjoyed camping, fishing, fly tying and during his retirement years was a self-taught oil painter. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Family members include his wife Joyce of Groveton; two daughters, Sharon Anne Smith and her husband Clair of Litchfield, NH, Linda J. Kelly and her husband Mike of Groveton; a sister Beverly King of Framingham, MA; three grandchildren, Erica Siracuse, Alexis Smith, Sarah Seckla; a step-grandaughter Jennie Young; three great-grandchildren, Joyce, Aubrey, Gianna; and on step great-grandchild Denia. A brother Carl Halvorson predeceased him. There are no visiting hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
