PUNTA GORDA, FL – Robert C. Valentine Jr. (Bob), 67, of Rampart Blvd, died Friday morning, February 16, 2024, at the Gill Odd Fellows Home, Ludlow, VT, after a recent period of failing health.
Bob was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on November 15, 1956, the son of Robert C. Valentine Sr. and Ilene (Rutherford) Valentine.
Bob was raised in Concord, VT until moving to Flushing, NY in 1964 with his family. They continued to spend summers at his family’s owned and operated business Val's Motel and Restaurant in Concord, VT. In his teen years he met a local girl named Cindy Burt at the Frosty Bar. They became sweethearts and later married. Bob then signed up with the US Navy, and during his five years of service, he and Cindy started their family. They resided at Navy installations in Chicago, California, and Guam. Robert earned an associate degree in Communications while in the Navy. After his military service, he worked throughout the eastern seaboard in the telecommunications industry. Bob and Cindy moved to Lunenburg, VT to be close to family and remained there until retiring in 2013.
After retiring, Bob and Cindy settled in Punta Gorda, Florida. He enjoyed poker with his friends, bingo with his wife, and was an avid reader. Bob cherished time with his friends, family, and loved his dog Izzy. Bob and Cindy enjoyed 41 years of marriage until Cindy passed on the same date as Bob in 2018, February 16.
Surviving family members include his daughters, Jessica Duranleau (Rob) of Wheelock, VT, Michelle Cochran (Shawn) of Northford, CT; his grandchildren, Madison, Alexis, and Elizabeth Duranleau and Lillian Cochran; his siblings, Michael Valentine (Laura Pearle), Debra Smith (Richard), Donna Gavin (Michael), Paul Valentine (Nancy), John Valentine (Lisa), Kevin Valentine; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st at 1:30PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Reverend Britto Adaikalam, pastor of All Saints Church, Lancaster, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Lunenburg.
