LANCASTER - Roger N. Emery, 92, formerly of Canal Street, died Saturday morning, December 30, 2017, at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center after a period of declining health.
Mr. Emery was born in Littleton, NH, on August 29, 1925, the son or Asa S. and Edith F. (Garceau) Emery.
During World War II Roger served with the US Marine Corp and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima. He also served stateside with the National Guard.
For many years Roger was a foreman with the Town of Lancaster Water Department and was a longtime member and former Chief of the Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department. He also served the town as an EMT with the Lancaster Ambulance Corps and was past member of the White Mountain Regional School Board
Memberships included the John W. Weeks VFW Post 3041 of Lancaster, the Groveton American Legion Post #17, member and past president of the NH State Fire Association and the NH Board of Fire Control.
Surviving family members include his wife Pauline June (Collins) Emery of Lancaster; a son Roger Emery and wife Lynn of Maidstone; a daughter Rona Glines and husband Murray of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren and their spouses and significant other, Christian Glines and Dawn Russell, Nicholas and Stephanie Emery, Mitchell and Britny Emery; and 2 great grandchildren, Madisyn Emery and Keene Emery
; a sister-in-law Gwendolyn Emery of Lakeland, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Howard Emery, Rodney Emery, Ronald Emery, Raymond Emery and Gwendolyn Brown.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date in Summer Street Cemetery.
