Roland Joseph Caron

GROVETON - Roland Joseph Caron, 83, died Wednesday evening October 7, 2015 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster after a long illness.

Mr. Caron was born in Eustis, Maine on January 4, 1932 the son of Fulbert and Alice (

Auclair

) Caron.  He was the 5

th

child from a family of 10 who later moved to Vermont where he attended Vermont schools.

During the Korean Conflict Roland served with the US Army and was awarded a Bronze Star for his bravery on the front lines.  For many years he worked as a carpenter for Groveton Paper until his retirement.

On June 18

th

, 1955 he married Louella Cantin, they have shared 60 years of marriage together.  Roland was a family man who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family members include Louella of Groveton; his children, Diana Brann and husband Charles of Groveton, Kelly McLain and husband Reg of Guildhall, Carol Breault of Groveton, Roland Caron II and wife Rhonda of Whitefield, Richard Caron and wife Cindy of Jaffery, NH; two brothers, Marcel Caron and wife Lorraine of Phoenix, AZ, Raymond Caron and wife Phyllis of Georgia; two sisters, Theresa Lavoie of Island Pond, Jackie Lakin of Derby; grandchildren Tom Hickey, Ben Hickey, Allison Gilman, Nikki McLain, Ryan McLain, Dana Breault, Aaron Breault; great-grandhcildren, Austin McLain, quadruplets Brady, Aubrey, Cameron and Matthew Hickey and Aidan Gilman.  He also leaves his best friends Bob Hart and Dick Hart and a special caretaker Shannon Perras.

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Jean, Lucille and Christine and brothers Emilian and Hector.

There are no visiting hours.  A graveside service will be held Saturday morning October 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.  Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor of the Gate of Heaven parish will officiate.

The family has requested that you please omit flowers and make memorial donations to Weeks Home Health, Hospice and Community Outreach Services, 278 Main Street, Lancaster, NH  03584-9998.
