LANCASTER - Rolande L. Desaindes, 74, of Causeway Street, died Wednesday morning April 16, 2008, at Weeks Medical Center after a long illness.
Mrs. Desaindes was born in St. Hermenegide, Quebec, on June 3, 1933, the daughter of Arthur and Adele (Dubie) Charest.
She was a long time resident of Lancaster moving here in 1959. For many years she worked as a housekeeper and cleaner for several Lancaster families and businesses. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting and she made many items that she sold or gave to family and friends.
Family members include two sons, Maurice Desaindes of Northumberland, Denis Desaindes of New Mexico; a daughter Louise Brown of S. Burlington, VT; two sisters, Normane Desaindes and Noella Charest both of Coaticook, Quebec; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dorila E. Desaindes in 1997 and a son Norman Desaindes in 2007.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening April 18, from 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11:00 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
