LUNENBURG- Ronald L. Colby, 69, of Pond Hill Road, died Sunday February 4, 2007, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Colby was born in East Concord, VT on October 22, 1937, the son of Elwin and Verl (Fisher) Colby.
Ronald was born and raised in East Concord, moving to Lunenburg after his marriage to Florence F. Roy on September 5, 1959. For 45 years he worked in various paper mills, including Gilman Paper, Diamond International, James River, and from Wausau where he retired in 1998.
His hobbies included horseshoes and bingo, he was also an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. His greatest enjoyment was family activities, especially time spent with his grandchildren.
Family members include his wife of 47 years Florence of Lunenburg, three daughters Melody Barney and her husband Jeff of Groveton, Marie Forbes and her husband Scott of Lancaster, Wendy Quimby and her husband Michael of Concord, VT; a son Stephen Colby and his wife Kelley of Lunenburg; his grandchildren; Ryan Lynn Jordan and her husband Kevin of Lancaster, Justin Barney of Lancaster, Michelle Forbes and Mitchell Forbes both of Lancaster, Logan and Jordan Quimby of Concord, VT, Jessica and Brooklyn Colby of Lunenburg, two brothers Donald Colby and his wife Marilyn of Wilder, VT, Robert Colby and his wife Cindy of Lancaster; sister's and brother's in-laws, Yvonne Henderson, George Roy, Norman Roy, Albert Roy, and Clayton and Robin Roy all of Lunenburg, Irene Chase of Littleton, Verna Belle and Bobby Ingerson of Lisbon, Janette and Romaine Thompson of Mechanicsville, VA, Arlene & Brion Baird of Tucson, AZ and Ernest Roy of Bloomfield, VT., many aunts, nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be held Thursday February 8, from 6-9 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 AM, at St. Leo's Church, Lunenburg. Reverend Richard O'Donnell will officiate.
