GROVETON- Ronald E. Holden, 87, died Monday morning November 29, 2010, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Holden was born in Lancaster on July 8, 1923 a son of Horace E. and Annie (Freeman) Holden.
Ronald was raised in Groveton and from a young age he worked on his family farm. On August 31, 1951 he married Jean Beach. For a time he lived in Avanel and Newark, NJ where he worked as a foreman at a paper company. He also lived for a time in Walpole, MA. In 1960 he returned to New Hampshire and went to work for the State Hospital in the maintenance department and later for the NH Highway Department in the sign division. He then returned to farming until 1995 when he sold his farm to his sons. For the last 10 years he was a driver for Medicaid Patients.
Family members include two sons, John Holden of Groveton and Robert Holden of Gilbert, AZ, two grandchildren, Jennifer Holden of Lunenburg, VT and David Holden of Lancaster, two brothers, Russell Holden of Lehighton, PA and Kent Holden of Heuvelton, NY, two sisters Florence Berube of Groveton and Sylvia H. Stone of Groveton and several nieces and nephews. His wife Jean and 9 brothers and sisters predeceased him.
Calling hours will be held Thursday December 2, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mt. View Baptist Church, Route 3 South, Lancaster. A funeral service will immediately follow at the church. Reverend Donald Williams, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be private.
