LANCASTER - Ronaldo Joseph Pelchat, 88, died Sunday evening, March 28, 2010, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mr. Pelchat was born in Chartierville, Quebec, on May 29, 1921, the son of George Joseph and Marie Aline (Bouclaire) Pelchat.
Ron, also known as "Kid" to family members, moved to the Lakes Region where he was raised. Most of his early years were in Laconia before moving and settling in Ashland. He received his American citizenship in 1942.
At the time of his death he was living with his oldest son in Lancaster where he was a dedicated volunteer at Weeks Memorial Hospital and the Methodist Church Food Pantry.
He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn whom he was married to for almost 60 years and had two children who died in infancy, a girl Victoria and a boy Lucien.
Surviving family members include two sons, Brian Pelchat and his wife Rae Marie of Ashland, Ron Pelchat and his wife Anita of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening March 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. A service of remembrance will follow at 2:00 PM, Thursday, at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia, NH. A committal service will follow in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia.
