LANCASTER – Rosalie I. Leonard, 85, of North Road, died of a sudden illness at home, Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Rosalie was born in Nashua, NH on January 1, 1938, the daughter of Col. Bradley M. Cooper and Conradine (Bowen) Cooper. She was the wife of the late Allvin “Whitey” Leonard who predeceased her in 2012.
Devoted to her community, Rosalie was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary where she was very passionate about the local Toys for Tots program. She coordinated the program for almost 20 years and was a firm believer that no child should be without gifts at Christmas. At one time she assisted a desperate mother on Christmas Eve so her children would have gifts Christmas morning.
Rosalie enjoyed quilting and loved spending time at her Maidstone Lake camp with her family and watching the loons.
Surviving family members include her son David Leonard (Laurie) of Whitefield; her grandchildren, Jessica Dane (Joe) of Pembroke, NH, Amanda Wagner (Jerry) of Manchester, NH, Bekkie Leonard (Jeremy) of Westminster, MA; 5 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Bradley, Maxwell, Patrick, Joshua; siblings Peter Cooper (Sue) of Littleton, NH, Phebe Colprit (Steve) of Dover, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 5:00–7:00PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery, Littleton, with an announcement prior to.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 27, 2024, from 1:00-4:00 PM at the VFW Post 816, 600 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH.
