LANCASTER - Ruth Elizabeth Flanders, 88, formerly of Dalton, died Wednesday
morning March 5, 2008, at Country Village Health Care Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Flanders was born in East Barnet, Vermont, on July 30, 1919, the
daughter of Earl and Ethel (Berwick) Dennonville.
She resided for a short time in East Barnet and was raised in St. Johnsbury.
She was a 1937 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and completed the business
course there. She was well known from her years working at Moulton's Snack
Shop in St. Johnsbury, a job she truly loved.
Ruth married Forrest G. Flanders on September 6, 1947 in Belmont NH.
Ruth was a homemaker and very active member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Littleton where she served as Second Reader and Treasurer.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and pickling for family and friends. She loved to dance, and travel to visit with family and friends throughout Virginia, Tennessee, California and Indiana. She enjoyed many winters in Labelle Florida after retirement. Switzerland was one of her most memorable trips. She loved
and enjoyed life and all of its simple pleasures and was grateful for
everything provided daily by God.
Family members include three daughters, Constance Flanders Costello of
Whitefield, Joy Flanders Kobelt and her husband Michael of Chico, CA, Terri
Flanders Hollinden and her husband David of Ireland, IN; 5 Grandchildren, Olivia Kobelt of San Diego CA, Greg Costello of Columbus OH, Elizabeth Hollinden, Ben Brooks, Rachel Hollinden of Ireland IN; 2 Great-Grandchildren Patrick and Hannah Costello of Columbus OH; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by, her husband Forrest G. Flanders in June of 2007. Two sisters Josephine Falkenham, Ernestine Matthews and a brother Raymond Dennonville also predeceased her.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday morning, March 8, from 10:00 AM to
12:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will follow
immediately after at 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home followed by a luncheon.
