WHITEFIELD - Ruth M. Harris, 83, died March 9,2007, at Littleton Regional Hospital after a sudden illness following a long period of declining health.
Ruth was born in Whitefield on May 3, 1923, the youngest of eight children of William A. and Lydia (Priest) Harris.
She graduated from the Whitefield High School in 1941.
Ruth was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in Keene in 1945. She also received many additional certificates for several nursing courses including a three-month course in Pediatrics at Boston Hospital and Psychiatric Nursing instruction and practice in Concord in 1944.
She worked for many years at the Littleton Regional Hospital with a special interest in emergency care. She also worked as a nurse in other hospitals including some in the State of Florida.
Surviving family members include her sisters Helen Putnam and Roxana Peck and her brother Lauren Harris and his wife Adrienne, all of Whitefield; nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A sister Mabel Harris and three brothers, William, George and Winston Harris, predeceased her.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Baptist Church, 27 Jefferson Road, Whitefield or the Morrison Nursing Home, 2-6 Terrace Street, Whitefield.
