Ruth passed away suddenly on 06/28/2026. She is the daughter of Allan and Susan Bean of Dalton, NH, born on 12/28/1965 at the Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Ruth grew up in Dalton, NH with four brothers, Kyle, Karel, Keith, one sister, Amy, and John. She attended grade school in Dalton, junior high school at the McIntyre School in Whitefield, and graduated from White Mountain Regional High School. While in grade school, Ruth loved horses. Her first, a pony named Champion, her second, a horse she raised, trained and rode, named Flicker. For further education, she attended Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT, getting her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, minoring in Early Childhood Education.
She married Jim Steitz and lived in New Paltz, NY. While there, she used her knowledge in early childhood education while working with young children. They later moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, where Ruth began to work on a masters degree at Adelphi University while working at St. Francis Hospital. She discontinued working on her degree to have their son, Isaac, the love of her life. Ruth and Jim divorced, and while she was raising Isaac, she obtained a Master of Science in Community Mental Health with two graduate certificates from Southern NH University. Ruth loved Isaac with all of her heart and soul and did everything she could to provide for his needs. Isaac now lives in Dunbarton, NH with care givers.
Ruth loved poetry, children’s literature and writing. She published a book of poems entitled “The Towers Hold Memories”, under the pen name of Lynn Mozeika, while living back in the White Mountains area of NH. Isaac was the inspiration and birth to much of her writing.
Later, she moved to the Hampton/Seabrook area of NH. There, her degree in mental health became her occupation. She loved living by the coast, forming friendships with many and exploring the area, by land and by sea. She continued her education in counseling and did some theological study during this time as well. Some saw her sense of humor and talent with crafts through her gift giving. She was gifted at being able to turn driftwood and other beach finds into attractive home décor.
More recently, Ruth moved back up north to Lyndonville, VT to continue working as a therapist. She had recently taken a leave of absence from work when becoming ill.
Ruth is predeceased by her father, who passed in 2005, as well as by her nephews Samuel, Jacob and Chandler Bean. She leaves behind her son, Isaac, mother, Susan, brother, Kyle and wife Tammy, brother Karel and wife Pamela, brother, Keith and wife Amy, sister Amy and husband Mick, brother John and wife, Kara, as well as many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is planned for Sunday July 19th at 1:00 at the Cushman cemetery in Dalton NH. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Eastern Adaptive sports and/or the Crotched Mountain Foundation - kids programs and services
