JEFFERSON - Ruth (Oldham) Mason, 96, of Jefferson Notch Road, died Wednesday morning May 28, 2008, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare, Lancaster.
Mrs. Mason was born and raised in Berlin, NH, on December 7, 1911, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Hyde) Oldham.
Ruth married Eugene B. Mason of Lancaster. They resided for many years in Lancaster and several years in Nashua. Together they operated the Stark General Store for a time and also a snowmobile hut in Jefferson. She enjoyed traveling and took trips to Alaska, the Northwest, and Florida. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, knitting and gardening.
Ruth has resided in Jefferson for the past 38 years and was presently Jefferson's oldest resident.
Family members include two sons, Ronald G. Mason of Spokane, Washington, John H. Mason of Jefferson; a daughter Sandra R. Bent of Brookline, NH; 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene; a brother; 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
There are no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Rev. Dean Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Jefferson.
