Ruth B. Vermette

WHITEFIELD - Ruth B. Vermette, 80, of Highland Street, died Thursday morning, June 15, 2017, at her home after a long battle with cancer.

Ruth was born in Rogersville, Tennessee the daughter of Gilbert and Bessie (Arnold) Ball, on February 17, 1937 and at 22 years old moved to Whitefield. She worked various jobs include Henchels Shoe Shop, Littleton, Roberts Shoe, Lancaster, Ames Department Store, Groveton, and Pak 2000, Lancaster, but she was best known for the 30 years she was the dining captain at the Spalding Inn. In years past she has enjoyed gardening and latch hooking.

Ruth had a strong faith and regularly attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster until her health declined.

Surviving family members include her three children, Deborah Stickney and husband Arthur of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gary Vermette and wife Sarah of Littleton, Michael Vermette and wife Diane of Waterboro, ME; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a sister Mildred Christian of Tennessee, and Mildred's sons, Timothy, Todd, and Shane Christian.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning, June 23rd at 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Reverend Richard Boyden, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, will officiate.
