GRANBY - Sherwood R. Brown, 75, of Porrell Road, died at Littleton Regional Hospital, Saturday morning, December 25, 2010.
Mr. Brown was born in Canaan, VT, on June 9, 1935, the son of George and Hattie (Ellingwood) Brown Sr.
Sherwood was raised in Canaan with his 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He was a logger for most of his life which included owning his own business which became a family operation. Sons, son-in-law, nephews, grandson, and good friends were all part of his work life.
Sherwood and his wife Vivian raised their five children in Granby and watched their 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren be born and raised which was a great joy for them.
Family members include his son Robert Brown and his wife Laurie of Upton, ME; his daughter-in-law Tammy Brown of Guildhall, VT. Daughter Cindy Bilodeau and her husband Leonard of Granby, VT; son Gene Brown of Lyndonville; son Jeff Brown and his wife Dorene of Granby; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Lynwood Brown and his wife Barbara of Granby; sister Everdean Hodgdon of Guildhall; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife Vivian (Hodgdon) Brown; son Gary Brown; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; and a great- grandson Zachary Bilodeau.
There are no visiting hours. A Memorial service will be held Saturday morning, January 8, 2011, at 10:00 AM at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. Reverend Gerry Piper of Springfield, VT, will officiate.
