Shirley M. Bartlett

Shirley Marcia Bartlett passed away on the evening of February 20th, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 97 in Lancaster New Hampshire. She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on October 16th, 1924, to Earl and Lorene Young.

She attended St Louis School of Nursing in Berlin, NH and in 1945, married Warren A. Bartlett. They were married for 66 years, spending most of their life in their farmhouse on Gore Road in Lancaster.

She and her family took many trips to Maine where they would spend family vacations in the summer. Old Orchard beach and Ocean Point were her favorite places to bring her children and grandchildren every year.

Her love of nature and animals was ever present, finding enjoyment in watching the many birds on her front porch and at Maidstone Lake, as well as the affection shown to her many cats over the years.

Friends and family always knew that during their visit they would be treated to a game of cards; cribbage, hearts or group solitaire were among her favorite games, and she found herself winning more often than not.
In addition, she will be remembered for the countless hours maintaining the 10th Mountain Memorial as well as attending New England Chapter events to honor current and past WWII veterans with her husband Warren.

She is survived by her four children Brewster, Beverly, Bonnie and Rebecca. Grandchildren include Christopher, Matthew, Carly, James, Jennifer and Warren, as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Dr. Millard Young and husband Warren.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 18th at 11:00 AM in Summer Street Cemetery. Reverend Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate.
