GROVETON - Shirley E. Savage, 76 of Main Street, died Friday morning February 15, 2013 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Savage was born in Brighton, VT, on September 8, 1936, the daughter of Oler Cyrus and Gladys Elva (McKenney) Scott.
Shirley has resided most of her life in Groveton with the exception of several years in West Stewartstown. During her life she always worked as a cook and was employed in the kitchens of many local schools and restaurants and at one time Weeks Medical Center. Recently she has volunteered her time at the Groveton Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts and of course cooking. A well know specialty where her donuts that were enjoyed by many.
Family members include a son Keith H. Savage and his wife Debbie of Groveton; three grandchildren, Sarah, Amber, and Troy; a great-grandchild Riley; a brother Clifton Scott of West Stewartstown; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold L. Savage; a son Stephen J. Savage; two infant daughters, Mary and Jodi Lynn; and a sister Betty Hubbard.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Monday evening February 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A spring burial service will be held in Northumberland Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
