EAST CONCORD, VT - Shirley M. Spencer 80, died at her home Tuesday October 26, 2021, with her loving family by her bedside. She was born May 1, 1941, in Gilman, VT the daughter of Raynard and Jeannette (Bilodeau Shontell) Lyons and attended school in Gilman and Littleton.
She married Richard Spencer on October 30, 1959, in South Lunenburg and they made their home in Bellows Falls and later East Concord. Shirley had various jobs during her life but will be remembered most for home care she provided to the elderly. She loved to be outdoors working in her vegetables garden or meticulously mowing her lawn. An active community volunteer, she was particularly active in church functions.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years Richard Spencer, a son Richard E. Spencer of East Concord and a daughter Susan Ashby of Gilman. Also surviving are four brothers, Roger Lyons of Texas, Albert Lyons of Connecticut, Raynard Lyons of Florida, and Ronald Lyons of East Concord, two half-sisters Lois Stanton and Gloria Averill both of Florida, along with four grandchildren, Danny Spencer, Courtney Spencer, Jacob Spencer, and Chrissy Ashby, and 3 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Donald.
The family will conduct a time of remembrance at a time to be announced.
