LANCASTER - Shirley M. Truland, 79, of Summer Street, died Thursday evening, December 31, 2009, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Truland was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 21, 1930, the daughter of Raymond and Vivian (Moran) Moulton.
She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Truland who predeceased her in 2007.
Shirley was a long time nurse having worked at Weeks Memorial Hospital and Kent Nursing Home both in Lancaster. She also worked as a private duty nurse. Her hobbies included making baskets and quilts. She also had a love for animals and enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels and was always taking care of stray animals.
Family members include four sons: Kevin Truland and his wife Colleen of Lancaster, Bruce Truland and his wife Yao of Lancaster, Earl Truland and his wife Sharon of Riverhead, NY, Alan Truland of Dalton; three daughters, Lynnette Siteman and her husband Frank, of Winchester, MA, Maureen Rainault husband Gil of Guildhall, VT, and Kathy Truland of Lancaster; ten grandchildren, Jacob Cote and wife Lindsay, Jonathan Ingerson, Jason Truland and wife Kelly, Ben and his wife Koryn Ingerson, Taylor Ingerson, Jordan and her husband Jason Chester, Matt Truland, Jillian Bessette, Tyler Grieves, Genna Truland, Shirley Patricia Truland; great-granddaughter, Lillian Ingerson and two more great-grandchildren to come. Her brother, Fredrick Moulton of Pennsylvania and a sister-in-law, Sister Maureen Truland of Clyde, Missouri also survive her. Her parents and her stepmother Hazel Moulton also predeceased her.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon, January 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to a Humane Society of ones choice.
